Ayu-The Black Wolf « Thread Started on Apr 21, 2007, 5:42am »
I have decided this is the perfect place to put my story! No one can steal it 'cause no one comes here!!! Mwahahahaha!!!!
Prologue:
‘200,000 years ago, a fire wolf and a water wolf fell in love. They spent so much time together until one day. That was the day a war broke out between the fire wolves and the water wolves. The fire wolf used all of her power to defeat the water wolves but…her power was too strong for her to control…and she almost destroyed the world. The elders of the fire wolf’s pack asked the water wolf she loved to stop her…and he did…but their powers were lost along with their memories…
‘13 years passed and they met again…and like before, they loved each other. The elders were horrified when they found out what happened for the two lovers were the cause of the first war, they thought another one might be formed against the remaining fire and water wolves…and although the two were no longer fire and water wolves, the others knew what they were before…the elders transformed them into humans--the one form they thought they could never leave--making them lose their memories again…but two others knew about the lovers…one was a cat…the other was a bird. The bird became their friend as a human too…and the cat became the water wolf’s brother…’
Chapter One: Transformation & A Breaking Friendship
Golden leaves were falling everywhere; sticks, stones and drops of blood littered the forest floor. There was a cool breeze for it was fall. There was a dead wolf lying behind one wolf, a pup to be exact--except she didn’t look like a pup for she was as tall as a full grown wolf-- of one year that was looking at the other which was about two years, the pup’s golden eye’s were filled with fury and, yet, a great feeling of misunderstanding could be felt in them too, and the other wolf’s emerald eye’s were filled with sadness. Then a sudden scream broke the silence and ended the dream, or nightmare…
“Sorry…I’m late!” panted a 12-year-old girl named Ayu Kuzuhara with her head down and her hands on her knees. She had long, black hair that went down to the lower part of her back and soft eyes as golden as leaves in the fall. She was in the 7th grade, or 1st year high school to most, and she was part of the cheerleading team for her school, Miyazaki High School. And since it was a Monday in the first week of October, there was school and of course, she was wearing the girl’s school uniform, which was a white shirt with buttons that had a thin green ribbon underneath the collar and on top of the folded part on the sleeves had a strip of green and a green belt at the bottom of the shirt, and a short green skirt with a deep pocket. “It’s okay Ayu-chan!” a 13-year-old girl named Megumi Yamaguchi assured Ayu as Ayu straightened up and lifted her head. She had long hair like Ayu’s but it was dark brown and wavy with two long bangs at both sides of her face that went just above her knees and her eyes were black and full of excitement. She was in 2nd year high school, and worked at a sushi store owned by Kenji’s, one of her friends, father with Soshiro Kawamura, Kenji’s 10-year-old brother. And since she was only in a different class, she wore the same uniform as Ayu. “Hurry up,” Said Kenji Kawamura, a 12-year-old boy, coldly as if nothing mattered. He had short black hair and cold gray eyes. He was also in the 1st year and he didn’t do anything after school except work with his father, Megumi and Soshiro at the store. He was wearing, of course, the boy’s school uniform, which was just a white shirt with buttons with a small pocket on the front and green shorts with, unlike the girl’s skirt, had two pockets. “Hey!” snapped Ayu; she wasn’t in the mood to be hurried. She usually wasn’t mean like this but that dream she had last night…it…startled her, which made her uneasy. “We’re gonna be late.” Said Kenji as calmly as ever; he, apparently, didn’t sense (or care about), Ayu’s uneasiness. “Come on!” said Soshiro; this was the first time he spoke since Ayu caught up with them. He had the same colored hair and eyes (except they were darker) as Kenji and even had almost identical personalities because Soshiro was younger and since he was almost always being teased, he got angry faster unlike Kenji, who is almost always cold to people. He was in the 4th grade in Miyazaki, which has both elementary and high school. And he was wearing the boy’s uniform. “All right,” said Ayu as she sighed and followed Megumi and Soshiro who were trying to catch up to Kenji who was far ahead of them now.
They were in the school campus and everything looked exactly the same but something seemed different to Ayu. “Is it just me or has the school gotten bigger?” asked Ayu with her head tilted to the side as she thought. “It’s just you,” answered Megumi with a grin on her face; she loved teasing Ayu even though they were best friends. Old habits die hard I suppose, Megumi thought. “Hey!” said Ayu; she knew that Megumi was teasing her but she liked playing along. “Bllll!” said Megumi with her tongue out. “Stop fighting,” said Kenji, his voice still cold. Megumi looked up at the school and saw someone waving at them, “Look, someone’s waving at us from your classroom! We should go in now.” All of a sudden, Ayu figured out what was different. “Where’s Soshiro-kun?” she asked worried. He wasn’t her little brother but she felt like he was and besides, his brother was her friend. Almost, she thought as she stopped herself from grinning. “He was behind us a second ago!” exclaimed Megumi.
A figure in a black robe was walking towards a tree in an almost deserted field with a little boy in his hands. I hope Midnight will appreciate this, he thought, as he got closer to the tree. “Back so soon? I thought it would take you longer then this,” said the soft yet cold voice of a woman leaning against a tall ruined wall near the tree. “Shadow! Well, I didn’t run into any trouble this time, so things went a bit faster than usual,” said the figure quickly while he took the hood of his robe down revealing a handsome face with unusual emerald colored eyes, for the sun was shining brightly and normally his eyes would’ve sparkled but instead it seemed as if the man was standing in shadows, and black hair; although the woman was hiding behind the wall he could still recognize the woman’s voice. “Very well, I think Midnight will like this.” She said.“Are you sure you didn’t leave anything for them to figure out where the boy is?” She added looking at him wearily. “Yes, I made sure I didn’t,” the man answered. “I guess I’ll have to trust you this time but…do I even have a choice?” Shadow said grinning slyly. No, you don’t, the man thought. “All right, tie the boy there and stand guard in case they do come,” Shadow commanded while pointing to the tree next to the man as she started to walk away. Why? Don’t you trust me? Actually, knowing you, you’d never trust anyone! Not even Midnight! The man insultingly thought as he obeyed.
“Where could he be?” said Ayu worriedly as she walked nervously around the table in front of the couch the other two were sitting on in their school’s office. “Stop it before you start shouting again,” said Kenji still using his cold voice. “How could you say that or even talk like that when your little brother is missing? HE’S MISSING!! CAN’T YOU HEAR ME?! MISSING!!” shouted Ayu as she faced Kenji and put her hands on the table, hard. “Stop shouting and follow me.” Said Kenji as he and Megumi walked out of the office. “Huh?” said Ayu now confused, but after a few seconds she followed the other two out of the office. “Where are we?” asked Ayu and Megumi together as they descended into a dark and cold room after walking down a long staircase. “In the school’s basement.” Answered Kenji as he turned around to face the girls. “Oh!” exclaimed Ayu. “What is it?” asked Megumi. “Oh nothing, I’m just surprised,” answered Ayu. “Ayu-chan!” said Megumi in an annoyed voice. “What?” asked Ayu innocently. “Oh yeah! What are we doing here anyway Kenji-kun?” “We’re going to find Soshiro-kun.” He said and the coldness in his voice seemed to change into determination. “Oh, so now you’re calling him by his real name! I thought we’d be 1,000,000 years old by the time you’d call him that!” She said in an annoyed voice with crossed arms and her head turned to the side. “Well come on let’s go!” said Megumi. “Yay! An adventure!” exclaimed Ayu as she started to clap. “Could you please stop acting like that? Even Soshiro-kun is more behaved then you are!” said Megumi as she put her hand to her forehead; now she was extremely annoyed. “Kenji-kun,” said Ayu looking at Kenji. “What?” “It’s just…I was wondering, how exactly are we supposed to even at least find him?” “I read something when I was at your house the other day from your father’s journal,” he said; his personality seemed to change all together for his voice was soft instead of cold or determined. “My…father?” said Ayu faintly as she stared at Kenji blankly while she tried hard to remember her father. She never even seen even one picture nor remembered her father and when she asked her grandparents (she was living with her grandparents because her parents died in what they said was an accident) about it they changed the subject. “I don’t know my father,” she said while looking down. “I know you don’t, that’s why I was amazed to find his journal in your grandparents library,” he said to her; his voice was soft and comforting. “My grandparents have a library?” asked Ayu confused. “Yes, I was amazed to see it, but it was there…I saw it,” he said to her. “What did it say?” asked Ayu now determined to find out more about her possibly dead parents. She may not be able to remember her father or her mother but at least now she could find out a little bit about them. “I only read one page, I think it was a few pages before the last one, because I was afraid I was going to get caught,” he began as Megumi muttered, “Yeah right! You afraid? Ha! I’d never believe that even if I saw it with my own eyes! If anyone could see that!” “As I was saying,” he began again as he glared at Megumi who had her arms crossed, “It said ‘Dear journal, we have a daughter now and we’ve decided to name her Ayu. We’re going out on a hunt today and maybe join a pack today. I’ve met a nice Alpha and I’m hoping to join his. I’ll write what happens tomorrow.’” “What does that mean?” asked Ayu, her voice was hard clearly telling everyone she didn’t want to know; her eyes were closed and her head was looking down her left shoulder with her hands clenched into fists. “I think it means that…you’re…I think it means that you’re a…a…wolf,” Kenji answered even though he knew Ayu didn’t want to hear what he just said. After a short silence, Ayu shouted, in the same voice she used before, “I’M NOT A WOLF!” “Stop shouting Ayu-chan! Someone might hear you!” said Megumi as she reached out to Ayu trying to calm her down; she was really worried. “I’m not a wolf! I’m not!” she said falling to her knees, placing her hands straight in front of her on the cold, damp floor, trembling. “Ayu-chan, I’m sorry but that’s what I remember.” Said Kenji. “What if you remembered wrong?” said Ayu wanting, hoping, that it wasn’t true, that she wasn’t a wolf, that it was just a sick joke. Why don’t you want to be one? You love wolves, and you always wished you could be one. Now you know you are! Said a small voice in Ayu’s head. “I don’t want to be one. I just don’t!” said Ayu croakily, more to herself than anyone else, as she started to cry; her tears falling on the already damp floor beneath her. “I remember it perfectly. I know that’s what it said. You can’t change what you are Ayu-chan, and besides…” Kenji stopped and put his head down, “…we’re the same now.” “What does that mean?” asked Ayu as she got up; she stopped crying and was starting to calm down but now she was worried again. “It means that…I am a wolf too.” He said as he lifted his head and a strange, shining white wave came over his body and went around him in a big, shining white ball of water and in it’s brightness, it blinded Ayu and Megumi temporarily. “Kenji-kun!” shouted Ayu as she and Megumi covered their eyes with their arms. The bright water ball disappeared and in the place Kenji should’ve been there was a white wolf pup with gray eyes. “Ke…Ken…ji-ku…kun?” said Ayu frightened. Yes, it’s me. I told you I am a wolf. But to tell you the truth, I was never able to transform until now. Kenji looked at her and Megumi as he said that and he seemed to speak to them telepathically. “How come you knew that you’re a wolf if you never were able to transform until now?” asked Megumi nervously. She never liked dogs and wolves were even worse. I regained my memories shortly after reading Ayu-chan’s father’s journal, he answered. “What do you mean by you ‘regained your memories’? Your memories as a baby?” asked Ayu. No, I regained my real memories. Tell me, don’t you think it’s weird your grandparents won’t tell you anything about your parents? Don’t you think it’s weird that you can’t remember anything about your parents? Asked Kenji. Suddenly, Ayu remembered the dream she had the previous night. She knew what it was now. “I remember. I know what my father looks like and my mother too!” Ayu said, her voice a bit cheery even as she bit back more tears. You do? Asked Kenji amazed. “Yes, I was going to tell you about a dream I had last night but I forgot about it until now. I am a wolf. I was in my dream too. I was looking at my father and my mother was behind me. She was…dead.” She said as her voice became faint and tears starting to fall down her cheeks again. I’m so sorry Ayu-chan, said Kenji softly as he started to move closer to Ayu. “What were they like? Your parents I mean,” asked Megumi. “I don’t know. That dream…was the only thing I can remember about them,” replied Ayu, still crying. “I-we forgot! Soshiro-kun! We have to find him! Kenji-kun, I can feel I won’t be able to transform yet, please believe me, so you’re going to have to lead us to him. You still coming Megumi-chan?” exclaimed Ayu as she started to dry her tears on her sleeves. “I’m still coming!” answered Megumi. All right I believe you Ayu-chan. But I’m still new to this body. I’ve been in my false form- he stopped when he saw Ayu get scared then he sighed- Yes, although it’s sad I have to say it: our human form isn’t real; it’s the effect of a spell casted on us so that no one will know who we really are. Please don’t cry Ayu-chan, he finished when he saw Ayu’s eyes brimming with tears. “Co-come on, le-let’s go.” Said Megumi; her voice was wavering. No! It’s not true! Megumi thought as her own eyes started brimming with tears. “Cheer up Megumi-chan! Who knows maybe you’re a wolf too!” said Ayu though she didn’t believe it herself. Maybe she is, said some part of her. “Oh come on Ayu-chan! You know I hate dogs! I-no offence to you and Kenji-kun!” She added hurriedly while she looked at them apologetically as the tears that formed in her eyes fell but no more tears came afterwards. No offence taken. Now come on let’s go, said Kenji as he was about to go up the stairs. “No offence taken too. Oh, wait Kenji-kun!” shouted Ayu. What? Asked Kenji as he stopped and looked back at her. “You can’t go up there yet! If someone sees you who knows what they cou-would do to you!” “She’s right you know.” Said Megumi; her voice still kind of shaky. But what can I do? If I transform now, I might not be able to transform again as easily as before, said Kenji. “Maybe we can hide you in something! But something that we could bring along without rousing any suspicion,” said Ayu as she thought then said, “…Maybe in my backpack!” And I would fit in that thing? Snorted Kenji as he looked at her bag with his ‘eyebrows’ raised. “Well…we could squeeze you in…” said Megumi. And make me suffocate? No thanks! “Well do you have any other ideas Mr. Smarty-pants?” No I don’t, but if you even think about stuffing me into that tiny bag, then I’ll…I’ll- “You’ll what? You wouldn’t do anything! But we could…could-” said Megumi angrily as she glared at Kenji after Ayu mumbled, “It’s not tiny! It’s kind of…small inside but…it’s not tiny!” Could what? You wouldn’t even dare get near me! Don’t forget you’re scared of dogs! Kenji snarled. Megumi tried to speak but the words were stuck in her throat as hot tears started to fall. “Come on you guys! Stop it! This is a silly thing to be angry about.” Said Ayu as she got between them and looked cheerfully at them. I’ll just walk through that door and bite anyone who even thinks about even touching me! Shouted Kenji making Ayu and Megumi’s head hurt which was weird—they weren’t hearing it through their ears but through their head, a shout couldn’t make their heads hurt…or could it? “Don’t shout! It hurts!” said Megumi with her hands on her ears. Then it’s good! Now you can suffer! “But that doesn’t mean you can hurt Ayu-chan! And besides, you never suffered before now have you? And your not suffering now either!” “It’s okay Megumi-chan. Kenji-kun, what if the person you bite ends up being your friend? Or worse, your brother?” said Ayu; she stood shaking and was holding her arms. Ayu-chan, what’s wrong? “It’s…nothing…” said Ayu faintly. “Ayu-chan! Look what you’ve done Kenji-kun!” shouted Megumi as she rushed forward and caught Ayu just before she hit the ground. “…I’m…okay…It’s…nothing…really…” said Ayu weakly. “Ayu-chan! We all know that you’re not okay,” said Megumi with concern showing so much in her voice, “Well Kenji-kun? You haven’t answered my question yet.” This time Megumi had no concern in her voice and she was back to glaring at Kenji. You think I caused this don’t you? I won’t answer your question and if right now your wishing I wasn’t here then you’re lucky because I’m going out and I’m never coming back! Snarled Kenji but added in a whisper sort of voice, Sorry Ayu-chan…I’m so sorry… “Kenji-kun…don’t…” whispered Ayu as she tried hard to stand but was held down by Megumi who said, never removing the anger in her face and voice, “Don’t stand Ayu-chan…please. Don’t waste your energy on trying to stop a stubborn dog like him!” But Kenji was gone. “Ayu-chan you won’t…please don’t…you know…” started Megumi but as she spoke tears started to fall down for the second time. “Ke…nji-kun-” started Ayu. “He’s gone,” said Megumi before Ayu could say anything else. “Kenji-kun…” Ayu repeated. “I’m telling you he’s gone now! Didn’t you hear him?” “Where…go?” asked Ayu. “I don’t know…” said Megumi quietly as Ayu tried desperately to get up but was so weak she could barely move.

This is the next part!!
--------------------*****--------------------
She wanted me to leave so I left! If she tries to find me I’d--what am I talking about? I left them with my own free will! She never told me to go… thought Kenji as he walked out of the school campus. He started crying with his tears falling softly and swiftly making a trail of water behind him. Why…am I crying? Stop…stop crying… Kenji told himself but he couldn’t stop. After walking for a few minutes he did stop crying. After a few miles of walking he stopped. He sniffed the air. Who are you? He asked when he caught the scent of a man near a tree with a rope tying something to it not a long way off. No answer. He walked towards the tree when he caught the scent of a boy. The scent was familiar, very familiar. Soshiro-kun? He asked. A soft muffled voice and a low hiss, not a snake’s hiss but a human’s, broke the silence. Come out whoever you are! Don’t you dare hide from me! Yelled Kenji angrily. A man slowly walked out from behind the tree and a sudden memory came rushing to Kenji. A black wolf with brightly shining emerald eyes came from behind a tree. “Who is he?” Said a white wolf with gray eyes (which Kenji found to look like himself) while shifting into fighting position. “He’s my father!” Said another black wolf that had golden eyes, which was a female Kenji didn’t recognize, while standing beside him giggling. “Oh! Sorry!” Said Kenji to the father of the she-wolf, while blushing and getting out of his fighting position. Huh? Asked Kenji as the memory blurred and vanished and his vision focused on the man in front of him who Kenji noticed to have the same emerald eyes as the wolf in his memory except for the fact that the man’s eyes were darker and, strangely, had almost no light in them. Who are you? Kenji asked. The man did not answer. Slowly, Kenji started to move towards the tree but the man blocked his way making Kenji even more suspicious than he already was. What’s tied behind that tree? He asked trying to find a way to get around the man. Still, the man did not answer. What are you, deaf?! Asked Kenji angrily. When the man still did not answer, he tried to bite him but the man just pushed him away as if he was a sheet of paper. Kenji fell to ground snarling. He tried to bite him again but the man pushed him away even harder and Kenji fell further than the last time and took longer to get up. This time, Kenji did not try to bite the man but tried to get to the other side of the tree again. He went to the man’s right but the man blocked him again but couldn’t stop Kenji from running around the other side of the tree. Soshiro-kun! He yelled when he saw Soshiro tied against the tree. The man caught Kenji by the tail and flung him far away this time breaking Kenji’s right hind leg…
The Rest Coming Soon!
I decided not to put the next chapter...yet. MWAHAHAHA!!!

YAY! Next part! I made this like two years ago...the entire story I mean...XD...Actually, I made chapter one 2 years ago...the rest I made last year and weeks ago and stuff...
Chapter Two: Regaining and Losing; Gaining Wings
“Where…am I?” asked Ayu still weak although she already rested. “You’re in your house now,” answered Megumi. “Why…Where…Ke-” “Don’t say his name!” yelled Megumi before Ayu could say anything else. “Why…?” “Just don’t! Please…don’t,” said Megumi. For some reason she was sad, as if she regretted what she did. “What…are we…going to do?” asked Ayu as she started to recover more of her strength. “I don’t know,” answered Megumi. “…Eat…!” exclaimed Ayu after a short silence. “WHAT?!?! After all that’s happened, all you can think about is…is…FOOD!?!?” yelled Megumi very annoyed yet amused at the same time. Ayu giggled and said, (this time, all of her strength was back) “Food is good! And besides, I haven’t eaten anything since this morning!” After eating, Ayu went outside. She stood in the yard and asked herself aloud, “Where could he have gone? What is he doing?” She didn’t know Megumi followed her out. “I told you not to say his name,” Megumi said. “Megumi! I thought you were still inside!” exclaimed Ayu half scared, half angry. “Well you thought wrong,” said Megumi. “Why are you here anyway?” said Ayu with the air of a person who didn’t care what the other person was going to say while sitting down in the grass and hugging her knees. “I needed to make sure you were okay.” Answered Megumi. “You don’t have to, you know that, right?” said Ayu. “I do, but I still did it, didn’t I?” answered Megumi grinning. Ayu stood up and faced Megumi, “I never said his name.” “What?” asked Megumi surprised; she had forgotten what she had said earlier, “Oh…that…never mind that…” “What are we going to do?” asked Ayu after sighing. “I don’t know,” said Megumi. “Still? Every time I ask that question you always say that! Can’t you say anything else?” said Ayu angrily. “It’s your fault for asking that question all the time!” snapped Megumi. “But it’s your fault for making Kenji run away and for causing all this because of that!/color]” said Ayu. She put her head down and placed her right hand right above her heart and said sadly, “[color=pink]He’s in trouble. I can feel it…somehow. I need to find him! No, we need to find him!” Ayu stood up and faced Megumi again, searching her friend’s eyes for a sign that showed her Megumi was going to look for him too. “Go…if you must. But I’m not coming,” Megumi said as she walked away from Ayu, away from what she knew she had to do and towards what she didn’t even want to do. “Fine! Be like that! Walk away from your best friends! Walk away from the ones that cared about you just as much as your own parents! Fine!” shouted Ayu to the girl she thought she knew better than anyone else but was wrong about ever since the beginning. As Megumi walked and as Ayu watched her, they both let a single tear fall down their cheek with the same thought in their minds, I thought we were best friends…but…I guess I was wrong…
--------------------*****--------------------
Ayu had walked for hours since she left the moment Megumi was out of her sight. She didn’t know where Kenji went but something inside of her brought her right to where Kenji and the man were fighting. Now, Kenji was badly injured. His right hind leg hurt even more than when it was broken. The man looked away from Kenji for a second and saw Ayu. He didn’t speak and he just ran at her with his fist drawn back ready to be brought towards her. AYU-CHAN! LOOK OUT!! Shouted Kenji, unbelievably loud for a person who was as weak as he was. The man was right in the position he could punch her but Ayu dodged him for she was quicker than he was but she didn’t notice the man getting ready to punch her again and so she fell. AYU-CHAN!! Shouted Kenji trying to run up to her as fast as he could. The man kicked Kenji before he moved even just a few inches from his original spot. Ayu got up, her face had dirt and a bit of blood from her lips, and punched the man on his back just as she noticed Soshiro tied to the tree beside them and whispered, “So this is where you went…or…were you kidnapped or somethin’ like that?” Kenji finally reached them, just as the man got up, and bit him on his leg just before he said to Ayu, Untie Soshiro-kun! NOW!! Ayu went over to Soshiro and untied the tight knots. She took off the cloth that covered Soshiro’s mouth. “Thanks Ayu-chan!” he said. “No problem!” said Ayu. Kenji smiled when he saw Soshiro talking to Ayu but quickly looked back at the man just before he was hit. “All right! I’m really helping now!” said Ayu angrily. She kicked and punched the man at random and missed most of the time but the times she got him, she hit him hard. Kenji bit the man on his hands whenever Ayu hit him, sometimes on his leg depending on where the man fell, until he couldn’t use his hands anymore. He kicked and kicked yet never hit Ayu…until the last one. She fell hard on the ground and Kenji was just about to run over to her when Soshiro ran over to her and helped her up. The man quickly ran away as Ayu murmured, “Coward!” We’re finally together again! Said Kenji happily. “But how about…Megumi-chan?” said Ayu as she looked at Kenji trying to see how he’d react. Nothing…we won’t do anything about her…let her do what she wants, said Kenji. “Okay,” said Ayu sadly. “Is that really you big brother?” asked Soshiro looking at Kenji curiously. Yes, Kenji answered. “But why are you a…a…” said Soshiro but he couldn’t finish for Kenji finished for him by saying, A wolf? It’s a long and complicated story so…you wouldn’t understand. “Oh, but…I wasn’t going to say ‘wolf’…” said Soshiro. “If that wasn’t what you were going to say, then what was?” asked Ayu. “I was about to say ‘dog’…” said Soshiro. WHAT?! Shouted Kenji as Ayu giggled making Kenji remember his sudden flashback; Ayu’s giggle sounded like the she-wolf’s…
--------------------*****--------------------
After school the next day, Ayu was, of course, at her grandparent’s house but this time she was with Kenji (he already transformed back…with some difficulty…his tail still showed but he tucked it in his pants) who helped her find the hidden library, and the journal. They read each page quickly as Ayu’s grandparents might come in at any time. By the time Ayu’s grandparents did come in, they had already finished reading half the journal and had put it back on its shelf and went into the tatami room. “Do you wanna eat here?” Ayu asked Kenji. “I already ate…but…I guess I could eat…again-” said Kenji. “Okay! Come on!” said Ayu laughing. So they ate. “Was it good?” asked Ayu. Kenji stayed silent and Ayu blushed while saying, “It wasn’t…” “N-no! It’s not that! It was good!” said Kenji quickly. “Don’t lie! You know the saying ‘Liars go to-’” said Ayu sternly but was interrupted by Kenji who said, “I’m not lying! I swe-” “It’s not good to swear!” said Ayu interrupting him again as she secretly smirked. “But you just did,” said Kenji. “No I didn’t. I just said it but I didn’t actually swear-swear,” said Ayu. “Maybe we should read the journal again and finish it. I don’t think we understood everything in it ‘cause we read it really fast,” said Kenji. “Huh?” said Ayu surprised for the sudden change of subject confused her, “Oh, yeah…maybe…” “Okay! Come on!” he said copying what Ayu said before. They read in silence until they came upon one page they missed when they read the journal the first time that day. It read:
‘Today I met this one wolf whose name is Kenji. He was a weird one for he tried to fight me… It happened when he and Ayu were talking. I had just finished a walk in the woods at that time and I saw them. As I was about to greet my daughter, he started growling at me! Ayu told him I was her father and everything went back to normal until a cat came and chased a bird until it bumped into Ayu. Kenji chased it while Ayu chased the bird up the tree I walked in front of before this happened. We returned to the pack shortly afterwards to introduce Kenji to everyone and…he seemed to fit in. ‘Well, I’m planning on watching them from now on...’
“What?!” they both shouted, “We were together?!” “Are you two all right?” asked Ayu’s grandparents as they walked into the library. They shouted in horror when they saw the journal in the couple’s hands. “HOW DID YOU TWO GET IN HERE?? WHY-HOW-WHEN DID YOU GET THAT?!?!?” asked Ayu’s grandmother still horrified. “We…uhhh…-” started Ayu but Kenji interrupted by saying, “What is this anyway?” “You w-what?” said Ayu’s grandfather too horrified to understand what Kenji said. “I said, what is this?” repeated Kenji, sighing. “It’s nothing! Give it to me!” said Ayu’s grandfather as he snatched the journal out of Ayu’s hands and left the room with Ayu’s grandmother who whispered, “Don’t go looking for it.” When they left, Ayu said to Kenji, “Thanks…” “No prob! But…you don’t have to say that…Otherwise, I’ll have to thank myself too!” he said chuckling. “And what’s wrong with that?” asked Ayu jokingly. “Nothing…it’s just weird. Oh yeah, that is what’s wrong with it!” “Oh, Kenji!” “What?” “You’re just like me!” “I am?” “Yep!” “In what way?” “You’re funny, you’re nice-” “Really? You’re nice?” “Hey!! You’re the one who was Mr. Meanie before!!!” said Ayu angrily with her face in front of his . “I know I know…I’m just kidding!!” said Kenji sweat-dropping with his hands pushing Ayu away from him.

Megumi looked out of her opened bedroom window with her cell phone in her lap. She called Ayu hours after she got to her house and now she waited for Ayu to call back. She waited for a call that would probably never come. “I’m so stupid…Ayu was right, it’s all my fault this happened…” she said letting tears fall down her cheeks. A strong breeze came through Megumi’s open window. It got stronger and stronger as it spun around Megumi. Seconds later the wind vanished and a beautiful red bird that looked slightly like a phoenix replaced Megumi. As Megumi’s cell phone rang, she flew out of her house and searched for Ayu and Kenji. Please forgive me… Minutes later, Megumi saw a familiar street, then familiar houses until she arrived at one house that was really familiar. A window was open which was lucky for her…but not for Ayu’s grandparents. As Megumi flew in the window, Ayu’s grandparents went into their room. They put the journal on the table in front of the window, and Megumi landed on it. Already shaken by the thought of Ayu and Kenji remembering their past because of the journal, they were very alarmed when they suddenly saw a bird that looked like the one sketched on the back of the page Ayu and Kenji had just read when they took it from them. “Shoo! Go away now!” said Ayu’s grandmother, trying to hide her horror. Megumi just flew out of the room through the open door and searched for Ayu and Kenji. Ayu! Kenji! Where are you? Shouted Megumi. Megumi? Said Kenji hearing someone speak. “What? Megumi’s here?” said Ayu surprised. Megumi heard Kenji’s voice and followed it into Ayu’s grandparent’s library. Kenji! Ayu! There you are! She said happily landing on a table in the library. “Megumi!” shouted Ayu as happily as Megumi. Megumi! Said Kenji happily but not happily like Ayu and Megumi, in fact, he seemed annoyed. I’m really sorry…Ayu…Kenji… said Megumi as tears started falling down her feathery face. Ayu felt guilty as she saw the tears falling from Megumi’s feathery face and said, “Don’t be sorry! It’s all my fault anyways…” Don’t be silly Ayu. Everyone knows it’s not your fault and it’s Megumi’s. Said Kenji in the coldest voice ever, even by his standards. “How could you say that Kenji?!” exclaimed Ayu as Megumi suddenly transformed back into her human form (leaving Ayu temporarily stunned) and burst into tears. Kenji merely sneered at Megumi. Ayu, who had completely forgotten what Kenji’s personality was like before, remembered how cold he used to be when he was near them. Why was he like that before, Ayu wondered, why did he change all of a sudden? Why did go back to being like that? “Kenji I-” “Ayu just stop it. I don’t want to hear it,” said Kenji when he transformed (Ayu was, by now, a little used to her friends transforming without warning so she wasn’t that surprised). Ayu kept her mouth shut for a few seconds then spoke again, pleadingly, “Kenji, just listen to me!” Kenji scoffed and muttered, “Go ahead. Blabber your mouth off! I’m not listening.” Ayu glared at him and thought, He’s definitely not the Kenji I knew! The one I knew was either cold or caring. This one’s just plain horrible! Before saying, “I just wanted to ask, what happened? Why have you suddenly changed from a cold person to a caring one then to the meanest person the world has ever seen? Why have-” “Okay, OKAY!! Just stop talking already!! I’ll answer your questions only if you stop asking so many of them!” he shouted. Ayu whimpered but didn’t say anything. “Nothing happened. I changed because…because I thought that…well…the truth is… idunnoknowmysefsodonasmeagan!” he said quickly, but before anyone could ask what he had said he ran out of Ayu’s house. “Kenji-kun…” said Ayu, her right hand over her heart, “Are you still mad at him, Megumi-chan?” “Hm? Oh…If he is then I might…” said Megumi who had calmed down once Kenji and Ayu started arguing and was only paying attention to a cat that was chased up a tree in fright of a dog that had just got out of his owner’s house. “No! I mean, are you mad at him now? Even if he isn’t mad at you?” insisted Ayu. “Maybe…” “I won’t take ‘maybe’ as an answer!” “No…Happy?” “You’re not telling the truth!” said Ayu with fake tears. “Yes I am!” said Megumi angrily. “Stop…I don’t want us to be mad at each other again…” said Ayu; true sadness was the only emotion Megumi could see on her face. “I don’t either but…” “Let’s just forget about it…” Megumi was silent and Ayu took that as a yes.

Three days later, Ayu was getting worried; ever since his little episode the other day, Kenji hadn’t been to school. Even Soshiro skipped school. She tried visiting them at their house but no one was ever there to answer the door or the phone when she called. Finally, she couldn’t take it. She went to the principal’s office to ask about Kenji and Soshiro. As she looked through the glass door she saw Mrs. Yamani, the principal who was about 27 years old, reading a letter behind her desk. She looked up and saw Ayu looking at her as she started to cry. Ayu was startled by the principal’s behavior and rushed in. “What’s wrong Yamani-sensei?” “Mr. Kawamura is going to Alaska!! He was a good student…This will surely lower his grades a significant amount even with an excuse letter…He had a bright future…” said Mrs. Yamani as she looked at Ayu with teary eyes. Ayu was even more startled with this new knowledge and said in a panicked voice, “What?! Why?!? Did he say?? Did his entire family go?!! Is he coming back?!?!” How could he go so soon? We’re only in 1st year high school! We we’re supposed to be together always!!! Why?!?! “This letter…it’ll answer all of your questions…” Ayu took the note and read it. It said:
Dear Yamani-sensei, I am very sorry to say that my younger brother, Soshiro-kun, and I will be leaving Japan to go to Alaska for 1 month. I will visit my aunt who is researching currently top-secret information for a military organization. Our flight will be today. I hope you will understand. Your student, Kenji Kawamura

“No!!!!!” shouted Ayu as she dropped the letter and ran out of the office. “…Ms. Kuzuhara? Ms. Kuzuhara? Hey! Come back here!!” shouted Mrs. Yamani with her hand outstretched. She was thinking of keeping Ayu back but thought better of it.
Ayu was running towards Kenji’s house with the hope of still meeting him before he left but before she had gone even a mile from the school, she saw what looked like the white car Kenji used to go to school in and decided to chase it instead. An hour later, Ayu felt as if she couldn’t even walk another step but the thought of not being able to see Kenji for an entire month was just too much for her to bear. His face as both a wolf and a human went into her mind and new strength rushed into her. For the first time, she felt wild and free…like a wolf… Stop it!!! She thought, I don’t wanna be a wolf!!! “It’s all my fault he’s leaving!!! I HAVE to stop him!!!!” she shouted as she remembered what had happened three days ago. Although Ayu was running faster than she had ever run before, she couldn’t reach the car and it was soon out of her sight. “No…” she whispered. A taxi suddenly stopped beside her. The driver rolled down the window and asked, “Do you need a ride?” Without thinking, Ayu nodded and went inside. “Where to?” “Follow…that car…to the…airport!!!” shouted Ayu panting as she pointed to the car that just disappeared. Without another word, the driver sped up and soon the white car was in sight again. Three hours later, the airport came into view without getting any closer to the white car. The driver parked the taxi and said, “That’ll be Y4,000.” “What?! Y4,000?!” shouted Ayu; she wasn’t thinking about riding a taxi when she decided to chase Kenji and so she didn’t have her money with her. “Uhhh…I’m sorry but I don’t have any money with me so I…” “Oh, well, I don’t suppose you have anything on you that you can give to me instead?” “Well…” said Ayu hesitantly; the only thing that could replace the Y4000 would be her earrings but her grandmother would kill her if she found out whom she gave it to (“A taxi driver?! A total stranger?! What if he was a thief?! What if he was a madman?! What if…”). Then again, he was a very nice person…I doubt he’d be the type of person who’d do something bad with it. So…I guess I could give it to him… “How about these?” she said handing the driver the earrings. “They’re fine…and beautiful like the one who wore them…” the driver said to her. Ayu blushed a little and was about to leave to find Kenji when the driver said, “Will you need a ride back?” “Ummm…will I need to pay extra? I don’t have anything else on me…” “No, it’ll be free!” “Okay! I’ll be back right away!” she said as she ran off towards Kenji’s car. To her dismay, by the time she got to the white car, the people inside where already in the airport. She tried chasing them but there were too many people and she could barely move. Too…many…people…I’ll never find him this way… As she tried to make her way through the crowd, she kept her eyes peeled and ears strained for any signs of Kenji.

“Are you sure you won’t tell anyone, Kenji?” said Kenji’s mother, Himiko Kawamura, as they waited in their seats at Gate 8 to be called to board the plane. “I told the principle.” Kenji replied as cold as ever, though he was a bit sadder. “I mean your friends! Won’t they be worried?” “…The principle will tell them...” “Come on, brother! Won’t Ayu be worried?” said Soshiro, taking after his mother; he didn’t want to talk about Megumi with Kenji because he knew about their fights. “I…” started Kenji but was interrupted by the sudden approaching of a tall girl with lavender colored hair that was in a kind of loose pigtail on the sides of her head and light purple eyes. She was wearing a long sleeved white shirt and a white mini skirt with jeans underneath. She walked up to them and said, “Have you guys seen a brown miniature schnauzer somewhere around here?” Completely caught off guard, the family stayed silent and the girl, taking the silence as a no, left. “Do you know who that girl was?” Himiko asked Kenji and Soshiro. “No.” They both replied as Kenji saw the girl ask another girl but she was more familiar. Black hair, golden eyes…It’s Ayu! Kenji thought as he also thought of hiding. What is she doing here? “Kenji, isn’t that Ayu?” said Himiko, not noticing her son’s worriedness. Kenji stayed silent as he turned his head away from Ayu. He looked at his watch. 10:00 am. 15 more minutes ‘till boarding time, thought Kenji as Ayu started looking around.
I'mbusy right now so I'll post the rest tomorrow! I feel as if I'm actually talking to someone! XD
